Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website, why, and what we do with it.

Who we are

Ron Davidson Art is run by Janet and Andrew Coghlan, selling prints and cards of the late Ron Davidson’s watercolours. We are responsible for your personal information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). You can reach us by email at see our Contact page or by post at see our Contact page.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number if you give it, and what you bought. The shop also saves the IP address and browser details of the device you ordered from. Card payments are handled by Stripe: we never see or store your card details.
  • When you use our contact form: your name, email address, anything you write, and the IP address and browser details of your device.
  • If you tick to hear our news at checkout: that you said yes, so we can email you about new prints, calendars, cards and exhibitions.
  • When you visit: we count visits with Pirsch, which uses no cookies and doesn’t store your IP address.

Why we use it

  • To take payment, make and post your order, and keep you updated about it (to fulfil our contract with you).
  • To keep order and payment records for tax (a legal obligation).
  • To reply when you contact us, prevent fraud and see how the site is used (our legitimate interests).
  • To send you news, but only if you’ve said yes (your consent). You can stop at any time.

We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only what each needs: Stripe, which takes payments and checks for fraud; our printer, Calico Images, and Royal Mail, so your order can be printed and delivered; Pirsch, which counts visits for us; and the companies that host this website and send its emails. Some may handle data outside the UK, for example Stripe in the United States, using safeguards recognised under UK law. We’ll also share information if the law requires it, for example with HMRC.

How long we keep it

  • Orders and payments: as long as tax law requires (at least five years after the 31 January filing deadline for that tax year).
  • Contact form messages: up to 12 months after we last reply, unless they’re about an order.
  • News emails: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it (we may need to keep order records for tax), to limit or object to how we use it, or to have it in a format you can take elsewhere. Just email us at see our Contact page. There’s no charge, and we’ll reply within one month.

Cookies

We only use the cookies the shop needs to work: to remember your basket and keep your checkout together, plus Stripe’s fraud-prevention cookies when you pay. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, so we don’t ask you to accept cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, but the basket and checkout won’t work without them.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first and we’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy
